ABOUT KIJIJI
KIMATAIFA CIC
Ubuntu - I am because you are, we are therefore I am!
It takes a village to raise a child & to provide the family with the support they need to thrive. Kijiji Kimataifa CIC is dedicated to providing culturally aligned support to Mothers, Children, Fathers & the wider family members to help you to achieve positive outcomes. This is delivered through community-based initiatives.
Why? It is reported that 'Black' women in England are 3-5 times more likely to experience negative birth outcomes & children from disadvantaged backgrounds have wider gaps in early years education with long-term consequences.
OUR VISION
A global village of support enabling positive birth outcomes & optimal family development across the Afrikan Diaspora.
OUR MISSION
To provide & signpost your family to practical information, workshops & safe spaces; opening the door to a positive childhood & thriving adulthood. This reduces the instances of negative birth, early years & longterm outcomes families from disadvantaged backgrounds disproportionately experience.
OUR PURPOSE
To provide continuous, culturally sensitive support that helps to achieve positive birth, childhood & economic outcomes across the Afrikan Diaspora.
OUR VALUES
Competence - the right support enables the right outcomes.
Continuity of Care - supporting you & your family’s journey from the pre-natal stages to puberty.
Cultural Retention - activities rooted in our history that encourage families to learn, grow & thrive together.
Empowering Families Through Cultural Support

Why?
Our goal is to ensure positive birth outcomes & optimal family development for our community.
In 2023, the CDC reported that Black women globally have worse pregnancy outcomes than white women. Parliamentary findings reveal that Black women are 3.7 times more likely to die during the first year after pregnancy than White women.
In October 2024, Ofsted reported that Children from disadvantaged backgrounds have wider gaps in their early years education that can have long-term consequences. Play is fundamental in developing the prime areas of learning - communication and language; physical development; and personal, social and emotional development (PSED). These prime areas of the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework are crucial to children’s early learning and their later success in education and life.
What are positive outcomes?
- Positive birth outcomes in our community.
- Safe spaces for children to develop prime areas of learning & later success in education & life.
- Cultivating practices for families to develop & thrive.
