Asante

Chess Tutor | Youth Mentor | Project Manager | Safeguarding Lead

Rooted in youth & cultural development, Asante has almost 20 years experience working within community organisations, the public sector & private sectors. This includes grassroots organisations, schools & holiday clubs. With a keen interest in education & the creative industry, Asante has dedicated his life to studying [& living his] Black history, culture, African spirituality & immersing himself with the local people & schools in Ghana & Gambia.

In 2013 Asante launched Mind Over Body Chess Academy with his co-founder Seba Amosu. Mind Over Body Chess Academy continues to “ignite children’s imaginations, sharpen their strategic thinking… & help people succeed by showing them how to succeed on a chess board, then transferring those skills back into their everyday lives.” Asante and Amosu continue to empower the next generation through chess, sessions take place across Birmingham & in London culminating in annual chess tournaments!

Shen

Ofsted Registered Home Childcarer | Project Coordinator | Youth Leader

Shen has almost 10 years experience providing services across the private, public & third sectors. Her experience includes providing childcare (live-in-nanny, flexible hours & wrap around care), children & family events, activity clubs, mentoring, youth leadership & development, education advocacy, award winning presentation skills & business to business services such as: curating business development programmes, forging partnerships & coordinating projects.

With a passion for nature, traditional ways of living & being purposeful, Shen helps people to achieve positive outcomes in an interactive, inclusive & sustainable way. She provides culturally sensitive support within her community that enables children & adults to reach their full potential. Knowing that it takes a village to raise a child, Shen embodies being the community! Uniting people, encouraging collective work & responsibility, cooperative economics & creative solutions derived from age old wisdom. She is known for getting the job done!
